Hey all! I just wanted to pop on here and give you a little update on life in the sunshine state. I’ve been taking in all of the good things it has to offer. I’m almost 100% glad we made the move back, while there have been some bumps along the way, God has definitely made it clear that this is where we are supposed to be.

We skipped on over to the beach a couple days ago to enough the afternoon view. The water was just warm enough to be inviting and cool enough to be so refreshing! Hubby got a good beach nap in and then we hit almost no traffic on the way home. It was perfect!

We plan on making our beach trips more of a priority this time around, even if it’s for just a few hours after work to catch the sun set. You never realize how much therapy the beach brings your soul and how much you took it for granted until its more than 4 hours away.

Finding time for ourselves individually and as a couple is showing to be of high importance. In a house filled with many family members, it can be tough to get this space we had grown so used to. Now most days seem to be filled with external energy (both positive and negative) rather than the calm we had cultivated in our own home.

Today, most of the family is on vacation while others are working, so i’m taking most of the day to be still on my own. I can tell that my mind as well as body, just need a time out. Today my time out happens to look like writing up a few blogs, snacking on some healthy foods, catching up on my tv shows, reading a book, and maybe even taking a nap.

The last couple of days i’ve really been missing having my own home and working in a position that I adored.

The most recent struggle i’ve come across as I search for new employment is the pay variation from North Carolina to Florida, for preschool teachers. The difference astounds me. To be completely transparent, I was making 14.45/hr in NC. I’d be lucky to make $10/hr here in florida, after I complete 45 hours of DCF training and get a CDA (which costs around $300 on it’s own by the way.)

How on earth does this system expect our preschool teachers to shell out hundreds of dollars and then live off of $10/hr. That’s barely over minimum wage. It boggles my mind, and has caused my heart and soul a lot of grief over the last couple weeks. I love teaching and working with children..but that just isn’t enough to help support my family.

I’ll admit, i’ve asked God a couple times this past week, why he enlightened me to the joy and passion teaching brings me if I couldn’t continue doing it? So for now, i’ll wait and be patiently still for his guidance to show up and lead me in whatever direction He choses.

Alright, well my eyes are getting heavy, my fingers are becoming tired, and this comfy pillow is calling my name, so with that, I wish you a beautiful day wherever you are… I’m headed to take that nap!
